This tutorial was created in Paint Shop Pro 7.

Please remember to save your work as you work through this tutorial.

1. You will need my gradient.

Make sure you put this in your gradient folder in Paint Shop Pro.

If you want to make your own gradient

here are the settings I used to make my gradient.

2. Open a new transparent image. 400 by 400

Flood fill with a colour of your choice.

I used Eye Candy Swirl on my background.

3. Add a New Raster Layer and name it 'Fan'.

4. Click on Preset Shapes.

Use these settings.

5. Now select your Stroke Gradient.

To do this move your cursor to the rectangle just under the word Style
and hold down the left mouse button.

Important keep holding it down.

This little box pops up

and as you do moving your cursor to select this.

Now click once on the rectangle just under the word 'Style'

and the box below (Gradient) pops up.

Find the gradient.

We are using a radial gradient and these settings.

Click OK

Choose your fill gradient in the same way and using the same settings.

6. Now draw an elipse.

You should see something like this.

7. Select the Freehand Selection Tool.

Using these settings.

7. Make a selection as illustrated below.

Then hit delete on your keyboard.

Go to Selections and down to Select None.

8. Using the Magic Wand select the area outside of the fan.

Go to Effects, down to 3D Effects and across and down to Drop Shadow.

I used these settings, but you can use your own colour and settings.

Go to Selections and Select None.

9. Add a new Raster Layer and name it 'decoration'

Go to Layers, down to Arrange and across and down to Move Down.

Select the Picture Tube Tool.

Using tubes (You could use custom brushes for this also) of your choice you can decorate your fan.

Make sure your decoration does not go outside of the fan area.

I changed the layer properties to Multiply
